NAZARETH, PA – July 8, 2013C.F. Martin & Co. is gearing up for an exciting summer music season with the announcement of their newest Artist Signature Edition from the Custom Shop – the LX1E Ed Sheeran Signature Edition!

Designed in collaboration with the Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum singer-songwriter, and brand ambassador, the LX1E Ed Sheeran Signature Edition features Ed’s personal artistic details on the headstock, including his signature fluorescent orange “+” plus sign and “est. 1991”, which represents the name of his platinum-selling album and year Sheeran was born respectively.

Additionally, the “+” plus sign logo is laser-etched on the solid sapele top, which signifies the title of his platinum-selling debut album. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this model will be donated to East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (www.each.org.uk ), a UK-based charity Sheeran supports and is passionate about. The organization, whose Royal Patron is The Duchess of Cambridge, supports families and cares for young children and young people with life-threatening conditions and provides services across several UK counties, including Suffolk, where Sheeran was raised.

“It was a huge privilege to have the opportunity to collaborate with Martin Guitar,” said Ed Sheeran. “I have been a fan of Martin since I started playing guitar and songwriting, and I am honored to have a Signature Edition that bears my own personalimprint. The LX1E has been Ed Sheeran’s guitar of choice since his early teens. In the span of just two years, Sheeran’s career has catapulted him from a rising star in his native UK, where he was nominated in 2012 for multiple music awards and won two Brit awards, to global success including a massive fan base and critical acclaim in the US. Sheeran and his favorite LX1E Martin guitar have also graced prestigious stages worldwide, from the London Summer Olympics opening ceremony in 2012 to the 2013 Grammy Awards, teaming up with Sir Elton John.

Following an industry unveiling at Summer NAMM on July 11, Ed Sheeran will unveil his LX1E Ed Sheeran Signature Edition to his U.S. fan base when he performs on the TODAY SHOW Summer Concert series on Friday July 12. Diamond Amplification – Hammersmith

hammersmith logohammersmith

Built with the same quality construction and components, the Hammersmith is as the name and vintage, yet modern, look suggests. The Hammersmith’s diode clipping gain structure projects lush British-inspired, midrange heavy distortion. Back panel boasts a dialable “deep” control.  A new look for Diamond, the Hammersmith is up for anything you can throw its way.

The Hammersmith also features a real, correctly-designed effects loop. You don’t need a foot switch; you don’t have to push a button. Just plug a cable into the effects send and the loop activates. The loop is tube buffered and will not affect your tone.

The front panel features a master volume, which reads E. Return (effects return). When the loop is on, the E. Return knob acts as the amp’s overall master – turn this knob up or down to increase or decrease the amps overall volume. When the loop is off, each channel’s volume control acts as that channel’s master volume.

Like all current and future Diamond Amplification products, the Hammersmith features the highest quality components and construction. Every component was selected and tested for this head. The Hammersmith uses 6 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 Svetlana “Winged C” EL34′s for its power stage. Each part was personally spec’d and tested by us to ensure maximum performance and reliability, from the transformers to the switches and knobs.

The head features a perforated metal grille set in Diamond’s new Diamond-shape Tolex wrapped front panel, and an accompanying black grille on the back finished in black powder coating. Even the knobs are metal for look and feel.

All its channels are foot-switchable from the Hammersmith’s footswitch.

Diamond Amplification – Heretic

hereticheretic

The Dictionary defines Heretic as a noun meaning either:  (1) a professed believer who maintains religious opinions contrary to those accepted by his or her church or rejects doctrines prescribed by that church; or (2) anyone who does not conform to an established attitude, doctrine or principle.  Such is the new Diamond Heretic.

Built with the same quality construction and components, the Heretic provides a thunderous, full gain tone that’s open, precise and hits you in the chest like a sledgehammer.  With a similar gain style to the very tight but powerful Spitfire 2, the Heretic picks up where the Spitfire 2 leaves off.  It features a clean channel and two distinct high gain settings in Channel 2.

Channel 2 also features DA’s signature dual volume/gain design. This feature gives the player the option of having two gain settings (say for a rhythm and lead tone, or more gain for chunky heavy gain-style rhythms and less gain for more precision and clarity when playing more staccato style passages) that are accessible to him on the fly.

The rear panel of the Heretic also features Diamond’s new, dialable “deep” function to vary low-end resonance.

The Heretic also features a real, correctly-designed effects loop.

Like all current and future Diamond Amplification products, the Heretic features the highest quality components and construction. Every component was selected and tested for this head. The Heretic uses 6 12AX7 preamp tubes and 4 Svetlana “Winged C” EL34′s for its power stage. Each part was personally spec’d and tested by us to ensure maximum performance and reliability, from the transformers to the switches and knobs.

The head features a perforated metal grille inset in a Decada-style Tolex wrapped front panel, and an accompanying black grille on the back finished in black powder coating. Even the knobs are metal for look and feel. LED’s are mounted in the box to give this head its distinctive red glow. Corner irons are included on every corner to add to the strength and stability of the box.

All its channels are foot-switchable from the Heretic’s footswitch (connected with a stereo cable).

assassin logohammersmith

Born from the Del Fuego, our amazingly popular 22watt, Class A, 2 channel fire-breather, the Assassin creates something new — an 18watt (although the measured output is 26watts) high gain, single channel, gigable and affordable amp suitable for nearly every situation.

Covered in black, the Assassin is a quality, hand-built amplifier producing nothing short of ferocious gain and it is lightweight enough to save your back while still having the power to be gigable even in combination with 2 4×12’s. Diamond Amplification – Positron

positron logopositron

pos·i·tron – [poz-i-tron].
–noun Physics.
an extremely small piece of matter with a positive electrical charge, having the same mass as an electron

Born from the Del Fuego, our amazingly popular 18watt, Class A, 2 channel fire-breather, the Positron takes all the best parts of a Del Fuego and wraps them in a smaller, more portable and very cost effective package that anyone can throw over their shoulder and have their tone to go. The Positron is exactly as the name implies – extremely small and positively charged (to say the least).

The Positron is a quality, hand-built amplifier in the time-honored tradition of a famous and sought-after early 1960’s British model. It delivers revered vintage-type distortion without the “domestic havoc” and it is lightweight enough to save your back while still having the power to be gigable even in combination with 2 4×12’s. Like the Del Fuego, each Positron is hand wired on a hand-built fiberglass eyelet board using components selected for reliability and superior sonic character. Simple enough to use for even your drummer, the Positron features one channel, with only a Volume and Tone knob to contend with. The Positron uses three 12AX7, two EL84 power tubes, and a solid-state rectifier.

This amp is hand wired, Class A at it’s finest. True tube, true Class A, true clean/blues/vintage breakup, true Texas. The Positron is redefining vintage yet again.

G&L Savannah Collection

G&L Savannah

The G&L Custom Creations Savannah Collection

Imagine a late-summer sunset over the wild, beautiful African savannah. It’s easy when you gaze at the Savannah Collection. It’s the newest offering from G&L’s Custom Creations™ Department, and it might be our most beautiful to date.

Start with the body. It’s semi-hollow and it’s Okoume, an extremely light, sweetly resonant wood with a lot of mahogany’s warmth and a bit of maple’s snap. Top this with a cap of Korina, which has always been prized for its open, articulate tone. The result: a strikingly light axe with striking tones across the entire five-guitar collection.

Okoume and Korina are native to the African savannah – hence the name. But the collection’s distinctive finish – a golden-honey center and G&L’s rich Old School Tobacco Sunburst with its red highlights – also suggests natural beauty.

Add in quarter-sawn eastern maple necks with pao ferro fingerboards, carefully selected and spec’ed pickups, and Plek fret dressing, and you have a one-of-a-kind guitar that’s pure G&L.

G&L Black Ice Collection

G&L Black Ice

The G&L Black Ice Collection

The new Black Ice Collection takes G&L’s Nearly Naked™ (NENA) finish in a whole new direction with a bad-ass look for players ready to grab the spotlight. Like the 2012 Special edition Collection, Black Ice models feature G&L’s newly-developed NENA finish applied over premium two-piece swamp ash bodies. This time around, no pickguard comes between your eyes and the dramatic Black Ice finish.

Having worked with a variety of staining and burnishing techniques, G&L craftsmen developed the Nearly Naked finish blending old-world techniques with modern finish technology. While the NENA vision was all about highlighting the natural beauty of swamp ash, artists never stop exploring. Before long G&L master painter Malcolm McLamore had developed Black Ice, a sleek matte black base with silver highlights embedded in the sweeping grain of the swamp ash. You’ll be forgiven for thinking such an intricate finish may be delicate, but the Nearly Naked Black Ice finish is surprisingly durable yet reveals the wood’s natural texture to the touch.

G&L Jerry Cantrell Superhawk

G&L Superhawk Cantrell

Jerry’s New G&L Shares Rampage DNA

Twenty-something years ago, Jerry Cantrell bought his first G&L Rampage while working at a Dallas music store, and he still rocks ‘em hard today. But what Jerry didn’t discover at the time was the G&L Superhawk, a hard-charging model like the Rampage but equipped with twin ‘buckers. That’s changed and so will rock history.

It’s been well over two decades since a G&L Superhawk was last produced. Now G&L is proud to announce the launch of the Superhawk Jerry Cantrell Signature Model, available in two USA-made versions as well as a surprisingly affordable G&L Tribute Series version.

This Superhawk starts out with the same soft maple body and fast-playing hard rock maple neck with ebony fingerboard as the Rampage. It even shares the same Seymour Duncan JB pickup in the bridge position, but adds a Seymour Duncan ’59 in the neck position as well as a 3-position pickup selector and tone control with push/pull coil split. The Rampage’s Kahler bridge is swapped for a G&L Saddle Lock bridge for improved comfort, stronger sustain and rock-solid tuning stability. This axe is all about capturing the Jerry Cantrell feel while offering more tonal versatility.

Founded by Leo Fender in 1980, G&L USA instruments continue to be made in the historic G&L facility on Fender Avenue in Fullerton, California, the Birthplace of Bolt-on™.

G&L Tom Hamilton Signature ASAT Bass

G&L T. Hamilton sign

Putting the Punch in the Aerosmith Sound

Aerosmith’s Tom Hamilton has been playing G&L ASAT Basses for nearly twenty years since he bought his first blue metal flake ASAT Bass at 48th Street Custom Guitars in New York City. Since then, G&L has built several more ASAT Basses in a variety of finishes, but there’s something about G&L’s over-the-top metal flake finishes that keeps him coming back for more.

Tom loves the tone, the way the ASAT Bass cuts through the mix in a live setting and the way it tracks beautifully in the studio. Why mess with such a good thing? Well, after listening carefully to Tom’s live performance and studio tracks, G&L VP Engineering Paul Gagon thought he could dial in the pickups to suit Tom’s style even more. Ideas were exchanged and prototypes were built, carefully moving the output and resonant peak until the perfect spec was nailed. Aiden Mullen, Tom’s tech, had this to say:

“The new bass you built for Tom is fantastic, and he started tracking with it like twenty minutes after it arrived. Every G&L we get is excellent, and the new pickups are perfect.”

The ASAT Bass Tom Hamilton Signature Model features the new “Hamiltone” Magnetic Field Design humbucking pickups mounted in a Western Sugar Pine body for reduced weight and an aged-satin-finished quartersawn maple neck that better withstands the rigors of worldwide touring. Naturally, the model features G&L’s stunning metal flake finishes, available in Blue, Red or Turquoise Metal Flake with a fresh twist: Silver Metal Flake faux double-binding for even more visual pop on stage. Tom’s signature and special caricature are placed discreetly on the rear of the headstock.
